⚠️

This is a planning estimate, not tax advice

I am a bookkeeper, not a CPA. I do not prepare or file T2 returns. This is a number to help you set money aside, nothing more.

It also covers corporate tax only. Paying yourself a salary or a dividend out of what is left is a separate tax bill, and how you split that is a conversation for your accountant.

The estimate assumes a Canadian-controlled private corporation earning active business income, with the full small business deduction available. It will be off if any of these apply to you:

  • Your corporation earns investment or rental income (taxed at much higher rates, and over $50,000 it also shrinks your small business limit)
  • You own or are associated with more than one corporation (they share one small business limit)
  • Your fiscal year straddles a provincial rate change (the rates get prorated)
  • Quebec has extra qualification rules based on hours paid
  • You have losses carried forward, capital gains, or dividends being paid out

If any of those sound like you, this number is a starting point at best. Talk to an accountant, or reach out and I'll point you in the right direction.

Your selected province is highlighted. Rates change with provincial budgets; this table reflects rates in effect September 2026.
* Ontario and Quebec both cut their small business rate part way through 2026, so a corporation whose tax year spans the change pays a higher blended rate than the one shown. Select the province above to see what that does to your estimate.
