Family Recipes is a private app built for personal family use. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Who This App Is For

Family Recipes is a closed, invitation-only app. It is not available to the general public. Only people invited by a family group organiser can create an account.

What We Collect

• Account information - your name and email address, used to create and identify your account.
• Profile photo - an optional photo you choose to upload as your avatar.
• Recipes - recipe content you add, including titles, ingredients, instructions, and any photos of recipe cards you scan.
• Device token - a unique identifier provided by Apple, used only to send you push notifications about new recipes and activity in your family group. This is never shared with third parties.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your location.
• We do not track your behaviour across other apps or websites.
• We do not serve advertising of any kind.
• We do not sell or share your data with any third party for marketing purposes.

How Your Data Is Used

Your information is used solely to operate the app - to display your profile, store your recipes, and notify you of activity within your family group. Nothing more.

Recipe Photo Scanning

When you scan a recipe card using your camera, the photo is sent to a secure server-side process that uses the Claude AI (by Anthropic) to read the text and fill in the recipe details. The photo is used only for this purpose and is not stored beyond the processing request.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database and storage provider. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to authenticated members of your family group only.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains in the app for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at the email address below.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
